My initial thoughts of Seoul are several things:
- Super clean (seriously, I hardly spotted any trash)
- Technology – Extremely advanced
- Subway/transportation system – Modern, clean, and amazing
- Smog – (Thanks China!)
- I’m clueless on the Korean alphabet (I can get by with Spanish or French recognizing words, but here it might as well be blank)
- My car is everywhere (gotta love Hyundai)
- Food – Yum!
What a great place to visit! We strolled through Namchang-Dong market and the Myeong-dong areas checking out knicknacks and street food. I bought a cheap watch for myself and a nice tie for Michael.

We crossed the Han River (divides Seoul) to visit the Gangnam area (Gangnam Style: http://youtu.be/CH1XGdu-hzQ) which is a posh neighborhood full of upscale shopping. We went into the Galleria and the Hyundai Department Store and enjoyed just observing. We had some more ice flakes at a dessert place that Damin often visited, (well worth the stop!), and then we walked along the Cheong-gye-cheon, a large garden creek through the city. It was raining, but it allowed us to walk alone making it a very peaceful place. We then hurried through the rain to Gwangjang Market where we sat down for street food with a local vendor.

Hi Lacy! I see a giant octopus (or maybe squid) in one of your pictures, did you eat that?? You are far more adventurous than me in trying new foods! The noodle type dishes look really delicious, what’s been your favorite? How are the desserts and sweets? Ha ha, of course I would want to know about important things like that! LOVE all the pictures, if you have time, can you put captions under some? Hope you are having a wonderful day! Brandee
